Wow, 2023 flew right by! I spent the bulk of
this month focused on email. I finally went live with Threddies' new email collection solution after addressing the remaining major issues. One of my main goals for this version was to keep the data in all of the email systems that I use and Shopify synchronized. Shopify's email capabilities have come quite a ways since I first started using it. It's finally getting to a point where it's the tightly integrated, easy to use solution that I wished it was when I worked in
the email marketing business. This new means of collecting emails allows me to try out Shopify's new capabilities without abandoning the old way of doing things all while guaranteeing that I'm honoring my subscribers wishes.
Instead of coding everything from scratch again, I decided to utilize Zapier as a crucial component of this solution. This resulted in identifying several bugs in Zapier's Shopify integration that I was
surprised no one else has reported yet. Even with these bugs, everything is working fine, but once these are fixed it will result in a reduced overall cost/complexity for this system. I also have some request for enhancements into Shopify for further enhancing their email offering.
In a related vein, I've been making sure everything is properly setup for all the lists that I maintain with regards to the upcoming DMARC
enforcement. If you're not aware of this, you can see if your domain is compliant using this tool. If it's not, you'll want to make sure that you continue to make it into people's inboxes by checking this out.
I also put
together a setup for tracking my indoor air quality metrics. I'll talk about this more in the future. I'm currently tracking PM1/2.5, CO2, VOC, Radon, Pressure, Temperature and Humidity. I plan on tracking for at least a month to establish a baseline and will begin conducting air quality experiments soon.
