The summer is coming to a close! Before I
know it, I'll be putting a pin on this year's gardening season. For now, the harvest continues and a few weeks ago, I just wrapped up planting fall/winter crops. Part of this effort is a winter radish trial meant to test an innovative seed treatment.
This collaboration with Clean Crop Technologies, is designed to evaluate three seed treatment
methods: hot water treatment, plasma treatment, and an untreated control group, using two Watermelon radish variety sources. Clean Crop Technologies is pioneering innovative plasma treatment systems, which claim to offer numerous benefits, including enhanced seed viability and vigor, while being residue-free and
approved for organic seed handling. This is one of the more interesting trials that I've had the opportunity to be involved in this year.
Another area where I spent time this month was in getting one of my sons trained up in managing the 3D printing infrastructure at our house. I'm happy to have someone else onboard with dealing with this, but he has strong opinions on the toolchain that he would like to use that don't
necessarily match my own. This ended up being a good exercise in identifying compromises that work for everyone involved. I look forward to collaborating on more projects in this area!
The bulk of my extra time though was spent working on becoming an early 'compute provider' for the Morpheus Ecosystem that I mentioned last month. Very early days,
so not much to discuss yet, but this will hopefully lead to more interesting things in Decentralized AI in the coming months! If nothing else, it's putting an old linux machine of mine to better use.
