This month had me revisiting the "Pluriverse". I don't remember where I first heard this concept, but it always thought it odd that others didn't have a concept of a world in which multiple worlds coexist. Sure, the original time I heard this term there was much emphasis on all of
these viewpoints being allowed to flourish within the 'modern' world, which I always recognized was definitely not the case. This was subtle distinction that I never really spent a lot of time thinking about.
What made me ponder this recently was a fictional piece that I read in the "Crypto" space. The authors took the concept of the Pluriverse and used it to explain many of the things going on in the fictional world as a way to explain that there are many kinds of "crypto" people. Some are scammers, others 'degens', but there are also 'solarpunks' and 'regens'. Not all of these groups (or uses of 'crypto') are inherently bad for modern society. In fact,
some of these uses could potentially 'solve' many of the problems that we are currently facing. I won't really rehash the arguments here, but if you're interested in hearing more, drop me a line.
In reality, the "One-World World" (OWW) has always been the source of many of my frustrations. Just as 'Crypto' seems to be pushing Pluriversal ideas, I can't help but think how much better other systems would be if they did the same. This could be Capitalism, how you run your business, politics, almost anything. My challenge to anyone who's building is to ask themselves about how to actually design whatever it is for the Pluriverse. Can genuinely universal
values emerge from plural foundations? I'm humble enough to admit that I don't know, but I sure wish more people were out there investigating the possibility.
