This month has been all about 'Reacting'. If you've known me for a bit, you know how much I hate being 'Reactive'. I like to do the things that I want to do at the pace that I want to do them. I want to have a plan before I go into things. Sometimes, however wrenches are thrown and you have no choice but to deal with what's unfurling in real time.
It started by coming home from a weekend trip to an almost dishwasher disaster. This was annoying and took longer to address than I would have liked, but we ultimately dealt with it ourselves without it turning into a bigger ordeal. This was nothing compared to what was next...
As I write this, our Brick and Mortar store has been closed for a week. Our upstairs tenant left the water
running and the kitchen sink overflowed. It's inconceivable to me how it could have been running for so long to cause the amount of flooding that it did. We're currently in the midst of a major remediation project in both the store and apartment. If you're aware of a good local contractor that has availability after we get everything dried out, drop me a line.
This is a great time to remind everyone how important it
is to have Rental insurance and, if you have a business, Business Interruption Insurance. Even though a decent amount of merchandise was destroyed, and the store will need to remain closed for the foreseeable future, we're lucky that the bulk of our business is online. There's no telling how long the physical store will remain closed and we've been asked by a few people how they can help out. If you're interested, the best thing that you can do is refer friends looking for
retro accessories to Threddies. If you've shopped with us in the past, it also helps to leave a Google review with your experience. Thanks in advance to anyone who does either of these things!
When I wasn't dealing with the wet and wild... I mostly spent time digesting my latest bloodwork results.
Things have mostly been trending in the right direction. I knew going into this latest round of testing that I was likely going to have poor results in the lipids area due to the dietary things I was playing around with to test the impact on visceral fat. That experiment didn't really achieve my goals, so I expect that bloodwork to go back to normal next time around after I go back to eating the old way.
In the
interest of making a dent in that visceral fat problem area, my new focus is going to be in purposely trying to lower my cortisol levels during the times of the day when they should not be elevated. My first experiment in this area is going to be with phosphatidylserine.
